Cream Legbar Fertile Eggs

Cream Legbars are the newest trendy breed, mostly because of their beautiful blue/green eggs. Classified as a 'vulnerable' breed by the Rare Breeds Trust of Australia with just over 200 breeding birds in the country, they still command a high price.

Quality of the Cream Legbar varies considerably, many birds are not cream at all and are in fact gold/crele. Hypermelanization is another problem in the breed where the birds are too dark overall with big black crests. On a whole, Cream Legbars are still a work in progress within Australia.

We have sourced our breeding stock from breeders who breed for type and colour first and foremost. Our Rooster is pure Aven (import line) and our hens are a mix of the old Aussie lines and the Avgen imports. They are the proper cream, legs are yellow, crests are moderate in size and mostly light in colour, chests are salmon and they have excellent body barring. The eggs our girls lay are large in size and vary from blue to blue/green (see photo), we are working towards breeding for bluer eggs.
